NINA is your direct connection to critical safety information across Germany. Whether severe weather is approaching, flooding risks emerge, or civil protection emergencies occur, you'll receive actionable warnings tailored to the locations you care about most. The app draws on the federal modular warning system (MoWaS), trusted since 2013 by all state authorities and countless city and municipal control centers nationwide.

Know what's happening around you. NINA delivers comprehensive alerts including civil protection warnings with recommended actions, official weather warnings from the German Meteorological Service (DWD) covering all districts and cities, nationwide flood information at state level, and general emergency guidance to help you protect yourself and those around you. You control exactly which locations receive notifications—select multiple addresses in your "My Places" overview, and customize the warning threshold that triggers push alerts. Optionally, enable alerts for your current location when you're on the move.

Visualize dangers on an interactive map. See the exact danger area of any warning displayed geographically, making it easier to understand how threats affect your neighborhood and surrounding regions. All warning messages appear on the map view, even for unselected locations, giving you the full situational picture.

Prepare before crisis strikes. The emergency tips section equips you with practical recommendations for floods, storms, power failures, fires, and other hazard scenarios. Learn how to prepare your household and what to do if you're directly affected. Ready-to-use checklists help you take action immediately.

Your privacy is protected. Location data is never stored on BBK servers. The app only determines your position when location-based warnings are enabled and requires GPS, WiFi, or other geolocation services to function properly. You can remove location permissions after initial setup, though doing so prevents receipt of location-specific alerts.

Note that alerts about purely local events may not be available in all areas—contact your district or city to learn which warning systems are active in your region. You'll need an active data connection (WiFi or mobile) to receive real-time warnings; without connectivity, the app displays the last saved status.
